Biography

Madeleine received her BA in Biology at Wake Forest University (WFU) in 2020. During which, she worked in Dr. T. Michael Anderson’s lab to study how vegetation structure affects herbivore occupancy across Serengeti National Park, TZ. She continued her education at WFU to earn her MS in Biology in 2022 advised by Dr. Miles Silman. For her master’s thesis, she shifted her focus to marine ecosystems and researched the distribution and dietary partitioning of herbivorous fish in the Caribbean. She worked for a year as a Coral Restoration Scientist at Coral World Ocean and Reef Initiative in USVI before joining the Pile in 2023.

Research Area

Madeleine’s current research focuses on combining observational and molecular data to study the trophic partitioning of herbivorous fish in tropical coral reefs across space, time and gradients of human disturbance.
