Biography
Anita is a spatial ecologist who completed her PhD from the University of Western Australia. Australia. She joined the Caselle lab in 2021.
Research Area
Anita is a postdoctoral researcher who conducts quantitative spatial modeling of kelp forest to identify the best environmental and biotic variables to which kelp responds to, with the aim of identifying the best locations to conduct kelp restoration efforts in California. She is broadly interested in benthic and spatial ecology and the effect of climate change and other anthropogenic pressures on benthic communities. A big part of her research focuses on understanding how habitat-building species (i.e., macroalgae, seagrasses and coral) respond to environmental variation and climate change.
