Bergen Foshay
Undergraduate researcher
Biography
Bergen is a third-year undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara working towards a B.S. in aquatic biology. She is currently a research assistant in the Mazer Lab learning how to digitize herbarium specimens of Streptanthus in order to determine whether machine learning algorithms can accurately automate the counting of buds, flowers, and fruits borne by herbarium specimens. She is excited to learn more about phenology and plant ecology as part of this experience. She is also passionate about marine biology and currently works for UCSB’s Marine Science Institute. Outside of the lab, she enjoys playing violin and piano, cooking, and being out in nature.
